Timaru · South Island coverage · Blasting & coatings

Steel blasted back to bare, and coated so it stays that way.

Farm gear, steel, plant, marine and industrial work blasted and coated from our Timaru workshop, with onsite crews across the South Island.

Example reviews
Dropped a stock crate and hay feeders off Monday, back on the truck Thursday. Finish is miles better than the coating they came with. Dave R., Washdyke

Blasting and coating, start to finish

From the blast booth to the spray shop, we handle steel, rock, timber, glass and all sorts of industrial work, in the workshop or onsite across the South Island.

Steel fabrication ready for the blast booth

Abrasive blasting

Grit blasting steel, rock, timber and glass back to a sound surface. Structural steel, trailers, machinery frames, tanks and farm gear all go through the booth.

Blast Craft surface preparation work

Wet blasting

Wet and high-pressure blasting for plant, tanks, concrete and building exteriors. Salt, grime and loose coating off before anything gets painted.

Industrial coating work in the Blast Craft workshop

Protective coatings

Epoxies, zinc primers and two-pack systems from International Protective Coating (Akzo Nobel), Carboline and Resene Automotive.

Protective coating work by Blast Craft

Arc-spray & spray painting

Arc-spray, steelwork and machinery finished under cover in three separate spray booths, with onsite blasting and painting when the job cannot travel.

Freshly finished industrial equipment

Structural steel & plant

Beams, gantries, silos, conveyors and handrails blasted and re-coated on a maintenance cycle, so a line isn’t shut down twice for the same steel.

Steelwork in the Blast Craft workshop

Rust removal & surface prep

Rusted, flaking or previously painted steel taken right back and checked over before the first coat goes anywhere near it.

Steel, plant and marine gear

From a single stock crate to a run of structural steel or a full plant shutdown.

Blast Craft workshop project 16 Shaw Street, Timaru

A Timaru blast shop run by the two owners.

Blastcraft Limited has been blasting and coating in Timaru since 1984. Andrew Larsen and Mark Johnson have more than 25 years’ experience between them, and took full ownership in 2021 after running the business for many years before that.

Andrew and Mark both quote and schedule the work, and both stay hands-on on the shop floor, in the yard and on site. They handle farm gear, trailers, structural steel, plant, machinery and industrial work, with crews travelling across the South Island.

Facilities include a 14m x 14m blast booth, three separate spray booths, and onsite blasting and painting. The team is trained in heights and EWP work, confined spaces and Totika requirements.

What customers say

Blastcraft doesn’t have Google reviews posted yet, so the cards below are examples of the sort of feedback this work earns. Every real one you collect will show here instead.

Example reviews

“Dropped a stock crate and a set of hay feeders off on the Monday, back on the truck Thursday. Finish is miles better than the coating they came with.”

Dave R.Washdyke · June 2026

“Rang about a rusted-out balustrade on a coastal build. They came and looked, quoted it in writing, and the price didn’t move at the end. Straightforward to deal with.”

Kelly M.Temuka · April 2026

“Our frames sit in salt air year round. Blastcraft blasted and re-coated the lot and two seasons on there’s still no rust bleeding through the paint.”

Sione T.Timaru · March 2026

“Old cast iron bath, blasted back and sprayed the colour I’d picked. They talked me through what would and wouldn’t hold up first, which I appreciated.”

Anna B.Geraldine · January 2026
